Abadawn is an independent performing hip hop artist. His music has been featured on College and internet radio. He has also worked with and performed with artists from Rhymesayers Entertainment, Black Clover Records, Strange Famous Records, Doomtree, Oldominion and many more.
Biography[]
Abadawn is a Northwest hip hop artist. Though his main genre is hip hop his style borrows heavily from the genres of rock, punk and alternative. His career in rap music started as a young teenager living in Santa Rosa, CA. It was here that he started freestyling and writing and was introduced to underground hip hop artists such as Living Legends, Atmosphere, Aesop Rock and Sage Francis. It wasn't until he moved to Seattle, WA in his mid-teens that he started independently releasing his recordings to the public.
In 2007 Seattle's The Stranger hip-hop columnist Larry Mizell Jr. compared Abadawn's recordings to that of Buck 65 of Strange Famous Records and Cool Calm Pete of Def Jux Records.[1] In 2009 Casey Jarman of Portland's Willamette Week gave Abadawn a nod as "the entire scene's little brother"[2] and featured him on the Local Cut[3]. By 2011 The music editor of Wallamette Week referred to his Kill Party group as "game changing."[4] and stated he "progressed admirably" and "wasn't the little brother anymore." He was also featured as artist of the week on Fear The Future Radio[5] and was interviewed twice by the iconoclastic Artist First Radio Network.[6]
Abadawn's first solo full-length LP "Good Villain" was independently released through Elephant Memories on October 14, 2008 and featured Kansas City, MO and Rhymesayers Entertainment artist Mac Lethal as well as Los Angeles, CA based emcee/singer Ariano. In 2010 the albums digital rights were signed over to Canadian hip hop artist Josh Martinez's label Camobear Records .
In 2008 he was a part of Seattle's annual Noise For The Needy festival which was headlined by the highly praised New York rapper Talib Kweli in an effort to collect funds to feed local homeless families.[7] For two years in a row he has also performed at the annual Kingston, WA Sk8Rollick, and has contributed to other benefits such as Toys For Tots and Mercy Corps. He was also a part of the Save Darfur Tour which boasted performances from The Visionaries, Freestyle of The Arsonists, Sleep of Oldominion, Grayskul, Alexipharmic, Immortal Technique and OneBeLo also known as OneManArmy of Binary Star.
Abadawn spent the summer of 2010 on tour in the Southwestern States with fellow troublemakers The Chicharones comprised of Josh Martinez, Sleep Of Oldominion, and DJ Zone. He immediately followed that by touring with Sarx down the Westcoast and more solo ventures in the Pacific Northwest region.
Abadawn made his acting debut in 2011 for ska/punk group Raise The Bridges video entitled "It's On Now".[8] Shortly after he starred in hip hop group Animal Farm's video for "What I Do"[9] as an obsessed rapper gone insane, much like himself.
In 2011 he went on another Westcoast tour and into the Southwestern states with Fake Four Inc. owner Ceschi as well as artists Awol One, Factor, and Cars & Trains.
Later that year he independently released his second full-length album "Deadication" The album was released in both physical and digital formats on his bandcamp page. It was fully produced by Bay Area producer Level and features rapper Iame of Sandpeople. The album also welcomes vocal talent outside of the rap genre from artists such as Scotty Preston, Jackie Forero, and Elwood.
Shortly after the album was released it was announced via various social media networks that Abadawn was on a touring hiatus as he worked on a book and a new music project that has as of yet been named or information been given on.
